RISING STAR is a trailblazing interactive talent format that hails a new era in home entertainment. Its launch marks the first real-time voting by viewers via an innovative free app which is fully integrated into the show.

Home audiences decide who advances via the voting app, while their individual pictures appear on the large screen facing the contestant and judges vote simultaneously by hitting their buttons in the studio. When the performer reaches the designated voting percentage the screen rises and the new star is revealed.

Just as they were, at the very first minute of the very first episode, viewers continue to play an integral role in every decision made on the show throughout the entire season.


RISING STAR’s record-breaking debut on Keshet Channel 2 – and the overwhelming response and participation from viewers – has set a new bar for the future of talent shows.

Since its launch, over 1.5 million viewers have been exposed to each episode of the show, capturing an incredible 33.8% rating and 47.4% average share. RISING STAR has garnered the second highest share for a talent show in Israel ever (after Master Class 48%). Rising Star was #1 in the weekly charts 10 out of 15 weeks it aired. Breaking ratings records throughout the season, RISING STAR gained strength across all key demographics. The stable and strong ratings grew steadily for the entirety of the season and the show never experienced a “mid-season drop”.

RISING STAR launched during in the holiday season in Israel and captured an incredible 44.7% share in spite of this, making it the highest debut of a TV show during September. The series finale achieved a remarkable 40.3% rating and 58% share.

During the season more than 10 million votes were tallied through the Mako TV app, which exceeded 1.5 million downloads. An impressive figure considering that there are just over two million TV homes in Israel. As such, RISING STAR has far outperformed all second screen activity ever recorded in the country, with a participation rate 10 times higher than previous shows. The conversion rate was an unprecedented 30% during the season.

From the minute RISING STAR premiered in Israel, it quickly struck a chord internationally and has now sold to more than 20 broadcasters and territories including the USA (ABC), UK (ITV), Spain (Atresmedia), Italy (Toro), France (M6 Group) Russia (Rossiya1), Germany (RTL), the Nordics (Nordisk), Hungary (TV2), and most recently Brazil (Rede Globo) and Portugal (TVI) - with more deals to be announced very soon.
